Every year we start providing water to our succulent plants in the unwarmed greenhouse at the first weekend of March. After this time temperatures in the Netherlands can still suddenly drop, but normally not for a long time. So we provide plenty of water to get them started. We can still have temparatures below 0 Celsius at that time. Some plants get water before that time, say half of February. Austocacti and Maihuenia do like that (in our case) and small seedlings (picture below).



It is remarkable how fast some of the plants recover from the winter period. We hope to show you a new picture in about a week so you can see the difference. Echinocereus fendleri is one of the species that react in a pretty visible way. (picture below).






All species are grown in mineral soil.
